Memory Verses
But as they were sailing, He fell asleep. And a fierce gale of wind swept down [as if through a wind tunnel] on the lake, and they began to be swamped, and were in great danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are about to die!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging, violent waves, and they ceased, and it became calm [a perfect peacefulness]. And He said to them, “Where is your faith [your confidence in Me]?” They were afraid and astonished, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the sea, and they obey Him?” Luke 8:23-25 AMP
Key people
Here is a list of key people found in today’s reading (in order of appearance) with bios from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Elihu. The son of Barachel the Buzite, who spoke to Job with indignation.
Job. God’s faithful servant. “Job is presented as a good and prosperous family man who is beset by Satan with God’s permission with horrendous disasters that take away all that he holds dear, including his offspring, his health, and his property. He struggles to understand his situation and begins a search for the answers to his difficulties.”

Elihu here goes on to extol the wonderful power of God in the meteors and all the changes of the weather: if, in those changes, we submit to the will of God, take the weather as it is and make the best of it, why should we not do so in other changes of our condition?” (Matthew Henry’s Commentary).
Reflection
“In stormy seasons like this, it can be hard to maintain hope. When life seems to be spiraling out of control, let God’s Word be the thing that anchors you in place. God uses storms to shape you and mold you into the person He wants you to be. He uses them to teach you trust and perseverance”.” ABOVE INSPIRATION
I am in a personal storm. It is difficult to see the sun shining when you are whirling in a tornado. Yes, the eye of the storm is calm; however, you have to pass through the whirlwind to get to the eye.
I remember singing as a child, a song in church called, “The Storm is Passing Over.” Whenever I am in a storm, I always think of music. I just have a playlist for every situation that I go through. Another good song is “The Storm is Over Now” by Kirk Franklin and the Family.
When I want to be close to You
I lift my hands in praise
Praise is who I am
I will praise You while I can
I’ll bless You at all times
Through the good and the bad
I’ll praise You
Whether happy or sad
I’ll praise You
In all that I go through
Because praise is what I do
‘Cause I owe it all to You
Even when I’m going through
I’ve learned to worship You
Though my circumstance doesn’t even stand a chance
My praise outweighs the bad
Through the good and the bad
I’ll praise You…
