Here is a list of key people – the who’s who of overcomers, found in today’s reading (in order of appearance) with bios from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Ezekiel. Acknowledged as a Hebrew prophet. In Judaism and Christianity, he is also viewed as the 6th-century BCE author of the Book of Ezekiel, which reveals prophecies regarding the destruction of Jerusalem, the restoration to the land of Israel, and what some call the Millennial Temple (or Third Temple) visions.
Today’s Devotional Reading: Ezekiel 37 – 39
Ezekiel 37 Amplified Version (AMP)
Ezekiel 38 Amplified Version (AMP)
Ezekiel 39 Amplified Version (AMP)
The LORD set Ezekiel down in the midst of a vision of a valley of dry human bones. This amazing story speaks for itself.
4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’ 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones, ‘Behold, I will make breath enter you so that you may come to life. 6 I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin, and I will put breath in you so that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the Lord.’” Ezekiel 37:4-6 AMP
Ezekiel prophesied as he was commanded. There was a loud noise and a rattling sound as each bone connected to other bone. It was an exceedingly great army.
9 Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”’” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. Ezekiel 37:9-10 AMP
After the army stood on its feet, God explained the vision. He said that the bones represented the whole house of Israel lamenting themselves as dried up and out of hope.
12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will open your graves and make you come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you [back home] to the land of Israel. 13 Then you will know [with confidence] that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves and made you come up out of your graves, My people. 14 I will put My Spirit in you and you will come to life, and I will place you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and fulfilled it,” says the Lord.’” e Lord.’” Ezekiel 37:12-14 AMP
The Holy Spirit is compared to a well of living water. Spiritually speaking, dry bones exemplify a disconnect from the Spirit of God. Naturally speaking, a lack of water can literally end a life.
Speaking of Water…
Many of us have no idea what it is like to be actually thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink — even the water in our toilets is clean! Unfortunately, many people around the world do not have that luxury.
Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it does not have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities across the globe. That’s where charity: water comes in. Watch “The Spring – The charity: water story.”
On Saturday, September 6, 2020, I became a Spring Member, pledging a donation to charity: water every month. Since I was a child, I wanted to help people in Africa. Now, I have a son who is half Kenyan. I am teaching him appreciate how fortunate we are. We have this giving project to share as a family. I hope to someday take him to see wells being built in his other home country. We want to help provide clean and safe drinking water to members our our family and people of the world community who are in need. I also started a fundraising campaign for charity: water called, “Songs For Water.” This fundraiser is to help charity: water build the much needed water projects around the world.
As some of you (my faithful readers) know, I am releasing a single next month (including some of the songs in the player at the bottom of this post), followed by an album in the Spring (May 2021). To boost the Songs For Water campaign, I will be donating 50% of sales from downloads of my songs to charity: water. You can purchase songs at http://reverbnation.com/shenicagraham. Spotify links coming soon!
Better yet, donate to my “Songs For Water” campaign directly by giving your gift on this page: https://www.charitywater.org/shenicargraham/songs-for-water-by-shenica-r-graham. Anything you give is much appreciated. I will post updates as they come. Thank you in advance for your gift to support charity: water.
IMPORTANT: 100% of your donation at the above linked page will be used to build clean water projects. When those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. There’s nothing to lose and so many lives to gain, so please donate today!
