Ezekiel. Acknowledged as a Hebrew prophet. In Judaism and Christianity, he is also viewed as the 6th-century BCE author of the Book of Ezekiel, which reveals prophecies regarding the destruction of Jerusalem, the restoration to the land of Israel, and what some call the Millennial Temple (or Third Temple) visions.

Reflection

The Man with the measuring rod told Ezekiel to watch and listen and focus his heart on what the man was going to show him. Ezekiel was to tell the House of Israel all that he saw that the man showed him.

⁵And behold, there was a wall all around the outside [area] of the temple (house) [of the Lord], and in the man’s hand a measuring rod six cubits long (10.2 ft.), each cubit being longer than the standard one by a hand width. So he measured the thickness of the wall, one rod; and the height, one rod. ⁶Then he went to the gate which faced the east and went up its [seven] steps and measured the threshold of the gate, one rod in width; and the other threshold [of the gate inside the thick wall] was one rod in width. Ezekiel 40:5-6 AMP

Then the man brought Ezekiel into the outer courtyard, then to the south, then to the inner courtyard, then to the inner courtyard to the east, then to the north gate, then to the porch of the temple. The Man measured with the rod in his hand all along the ways that he brought Ezekiel.

Many times in scripture, God gave instruction on how to build temples and other sacred places and things – such as the Ark of The Covenant and Noah’s Ark. These specifications had special meaning to God and He wanted to convey that meaning to the people who would encounter His places and things that He built by the hands of men.

You are also something that God has built. You are a temple to be filled by Holy Spirit. When He wants to release a fresh outpouring of His Spirit, He looks for “temples” people who can hold and disseminate His anointed flow without changing (diluting) it. The flow of His Spirit should be the same when it reaches your neighbor as it is when it fills you.

¹⁶Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]? ¹⁷If anyone destroys the temple of God [corrupting it with false doctrine], God will destroy the destroyer; for the temple of God is holy (sacred), and that is what you are. I Corinthians 3:16-17 AMP

Your life is the house that mercy (Christ’s sacrifice) built. Because of mercy and grace, you have a choice of where your house will be for eternity.
