Morning Prayer

The following prayer comes from today’s reading in 30 Days of Unlimited Grace: Daily Prayer Devotional by Unlimited Grace Ministries (Bryan Chapell).

Heavenly Father, as I study your Word this week, learn from other believers, and listen to the promptings of your Holy Spirit, please help me to honor you in everything I do or say.

MEMORY VERSES

61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3

Reflection

It can seem “easier said than done” when the faithful tell you to “keep trusting God…” when you are staring down the barrel of a smoking tribulation before it becomes a testimony. Remember that God knows your situation and there is no circumstance that you encounter, which has not been overcome before. The enemy will try to isolate you in your own experience because it is easier for him to divide and conquer when you are feeling alone. If you are faced with a particularly trying situation, I encourage you to do some research and see how people in the faith hall of fame overcame what you are going through. Some of the most inspiring faith leaders today have testimonies of terrible wrongs from the enemy that were overcome by God’s grace.

My dad, who left this life in March of 2019, used to tell me the African proverb that “You are not alone. You have never been alone. You can never be alone.” The Bible also says that we are compassed about with a great cloud of witnesses. The Holy Spirit also dwelling in you, experiences everything you go through.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1

After abuse, divorce, and abandonment in childbirth, I was spiraling in depression. Oh, I was still anointed; but I had real issues. Being a believer does not meant that you have to be fake. Not saying that a life without many challenges is not real. Just know that whatever your ashes, God has beauty for you.

He will give you grace to write your story with the pens of hope and faith. If you are in a place of desperation, it means that He is not done with you. How do I know? Because God promises that being on His team means that you will have the ultimate victory. So if you have not won, then your story is not yet finished. Winning is peace – it can take many forms.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6

Isaiah 61 KJV

61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
