Reflection

In today’s reading in 30 Days of Unlimited Grace: Daily Prayer Devotional by Unlimited Grace Ministries, Bryan Chapell writes,

Have you ever wondered what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote that the Spirit is interceding for believers with groans beyond words? Well, Paul had a specific meaning in mind. He writes that creation groans for the fulfillment of God’s purposes, and these groans are like the cries of a mother giving birth. Maybe you’ve given birth to a child, or maybe you’ve stood beside your wife when she gave birth. There’s pain and groaning involved for sure, but it’s endured because something so marvelous is coming forth. And that’s true in our lives. The Spirit groans, all creation joins in, and we groan as well, awaiting the coming of Jesus Christ, who by his grace will give us a new life in the new heaven and the new earth.

Are you pregnant with purpose? When God wants to birth something in your life, he plants a seed that needs to be incubated. Sometimes, what HE wants to bring forth requires you to nurture it in a situation like a photographer’s darkroom. You have to take care to develop the image in a way that preserves the original images and colors, but produces something that will last longer than the original situation or scenery. If we have the patience to wait on God, we walk in HIS grace to birth purpose. HE will supernaturally provide the nourishment and growth while incubating, for the seed HE has planted.

Like a mother in the travail of childbirth, it can be painful to bring forth the fulfillment of purpose in your life. They that wait on HIM will 1.) have their strength renewed; 2.) be empowered to overcome obstacles; 3.) have supernatural ability to persist while waiting in faith; 4.) walk by faith (not just when the road looks promising) no matter what the scenery.
