Peace For Your Purpose

You are of more value than many sparrows. These are the words of Jesus. The cares of this life are many if you allow them to be. Sometimes there is rain on the earth. Spending sunny days worrying about whether rain will come is a good way to miss out on good weather. Spending good-hair days stressing over how you may look a mess tomorrow (since those curls may not survive the morning fog on your way to work) is a good way to miss out on today’s compliments.

Focusing your life energy on making up for the past is a good way to miss out on new opportunities that have nothing to do with yesterdays. God wants you to be at peace. He gave you His peace for this reason. The peace of God is not like the peace of any other source. His peace surpasses the understanding of men and women. His peace is the calm in the midst of a storm when it is raging. He is able to keep you in perfect peace when your mind is focused on Him. No matter how the storm is rising; no matter which way the wind blows; no matter how your curls fall flat, or the heel of your shoe breaks, or the dog takes up gardening and leaves only the first “A” in azalea, God knows that you need peace. He is always ready to renew your mind.

You can go to God in prayer even while you are on your job, or while you are waiting in line at the grocery store. Your secret closet is open when you enter it, not only when you are in “the right place.” The Lord does not want you to worry about your future in Him. He wants you to trust in Him. He said that even the hairs of your head are numbered (Matthew 10:30). Yes, He knows you that well. He does not want you to always wonder about His plan for you, never finding the answer in all of your days (Jeremiah 29:11). He wants you to seek Him that He may reveal His will.

If you have  overcome a trial of your faith, or difficult times, ask God how He wants to use your experience to help others. Maybe writing a book or participating in inspirational ministries will help you give glory to God while He lets the world know that He is working on something greater than your situation. He is growing peace from the seed of His own glory – you.
