Writing Your Goal Statement

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by. Habakkuk 2:2 AMP

Overview

A good tool for scripture memory is paraphrasing or writing the verse(s) [84] in your own words to give meaningful emphasis that will help you to remember the principle(s) of the inspired text. The following is a sample statement of goals you may have for the duration of this course and beyond. I encourage you to re-write the goal statement in your own words with milestones that are meaningful and motivating for your own personal empowerment. After preparing your goal statement, sign and date the document. Keep this statement in a place that is easily accessible to you. If your goals necessarily change, update this document and sign and date it with the current date. Keep the new version with the previous version. You will be able to look back at how the path of journey to purpose has been recalibrated. If you need to revert to a previous version, you will also have the former documents at hand. Remember that changing your course is not to say that you were off track. Sometimes it may not be clear exactly what your next step or next dozen steps should be. As the way becomes clear, you can modify your goal statement to reflect both vision and revelation. Keep your path in prayer that you will recognize right steps when they appear and understand the choices that you are making.

My Goal Statement

I, _____________________________________________, the undersigned, begin or continue my journey to find my God-given purpose on this ____________(st)(th) day of ______________, in the year of our Lord 20_____. I will approach this experience as an opportunity to build or rebuild my relationship with Christ and to become a better servant of His will. I will to the best of my ability, learn and apply Godly principles to empower my life and ministry.

I will honestly evaluate my prior knowledge; currently learning, and areas for further study and growth. I will seek help when needed, to understand God’s wisdom and truth, and will participate in workshops, study groups, seminars, or other available support services as needed, when accessible, to attain the highest level of application for what I learn to be a necessity in my life.

I will establish and maintain prayerful communication with my Savior, Jesus Christ, and with my Pastor, and or other Christian Mentor for the duration of this course; and I will seek help if and when needed. I understand that this journey of faith will open doors to greater opportunities in ministry; and I will rise to such occasion with a humble heart, giving God the glory.

Signed, _____________________________________________.
