Dressed For Your Purpose
In spiritual warfare, we know that we must be spiritually dressed. Our physical dress is also important. I believe that various settings will deem some changes in your personal dress. However, I also relate your style of dress to the armor that David used when fighting Goliath.
In my personal ministry, I have seen so many styles of dress. Women in ministry are not always given the proper instruction for what to wear. What is proper instruction. Your attire should not distract from the message you are teaching. That does not mean that your dress should drag the floor, or your neckline should double as a choker. It also does not mean that you have to be wearing a dress.
Different denominations have rules. If you speak in a denominational setting, then you are subject to rules of that denomination. This is all there needs to be said about any one religion. Remember that God is not the author of style. These are made preferences for a variety of reasons.
When in doubt, think about women you highly respect. What do they wear when addressing a public forum? Err on the side of conservatism. Know your audience. If you know that certain expectations are in place, do not try to offend as many people as you can by purposefully overlooking expectations. Know that sometimes, some rules change depending on the setting.
