Not only does God know our inward thoughts; He can communicate to our heart and mind directly. He knows the language of every person. He can speak through His Holy Spirit and by signs and wonders. He may send a third person, like the prophets of old. The question is, when we receive the Lord’s telegram, what do we do with His message?

In today’s reading, David explained to Solomon and the entire kingdom that God had told him that Solomon was to build the sanctuary. David believed the words of God and made great preparations for the building of it. David said to Solomon that God “made him to understand” this thing by “writing by His hand” upon David.

According to the communication of God, David was able to tell Solomon exactly how the house of God should be built, including the size and stature of it, and what materials were to be used to complete the work. He had the specifics of various rooms and the entrance of the temple.

Because of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, the veil of the temple once reserved for the priests of the Lord, was torn. From that day forward, we have an opening of the door for each one of us to speak with God directly.

Joan of Arc claimed a message from God and led her people in several battles of the Hundred Years’ War. Despite miraculous feats, she was a peasant girl; mocked and burned at the stake. Jesus also claimed to be the Son of God. Though he healed the sick, raised the dead, and was wise beyond every Pharisee, He was a tent maker; abused and crucified. In the world today, it is still sometimes frowned upon if one says, “God spoke to me” or told me to do this or that.

David did not hesitate to tell Solomon that God had communicated with him. The people of Israel had seen many miracles by the hand of God. As such they had first-hand evidence that God did indeed interact with and speak to man. If David had been timid in His revelation, He would have damaged His relationship with the Almighty God.

When God speaks, pray that He confirms His word(s) that He may be glorified and your faith strengthened.

Hebrews 2:3-4

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
