Despite some character flaws, David experienced uncommon favor. How could an imperfect man fare so well? He repented often. He prayed much. Beside the anointing reserved for Kings, David was a praying man. He counseled with God (I Chronicles 14:10). David was also not ashamed to praise God openly.

Think about it: The Bible says that love covers a multitude of faults. How much more should love for God also cover the heart’s transgression?

When David praised God, he did so wholeheartedly. He was sometimes despised for his lack of restraint in praising God.

And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart. I Chronicles 15:29

Still, David gave hanks. He wrote in a psalm:

Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.I Chronicles 16:8

David did all of these things. The Lord loves to inhabit the praises of His people. If you want to get God’s attention, start praising Him with you whole heart.

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. I Chronicles 15:34
