3rd II Kings Chapter 6 Chapter 8 See What God Sees

Memory Verse: I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Psalm 139:14 KJV

When the King of Syria sent a great host of his army to encamp against Israel, they came to the place where Elisha stood. Though Elisha’s servant feared and grew anxious, Elisha was confident in God’s protection because his eyes were open to God’s view of the situation. Elisha saw the army of the Lord. This heavenly host was greater in number than all the men of Syria.

Jesus said, blessed are they who have not seen [Christ] and yet believe (John 20:29). Imagine Elisha’s confidence. How he must have spoken with boldness, knowing that the victory was already certain. Can you imagine that the heavenly host “has your back” against the works of Satan?

II Kings 6:15-17 (KJV) reads:

15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

What do you see when you look on the horizon; or into the heavens; or into the mirror? Can you imagine what God sees when He looks at all of these things; and you? If you could look through the eyes of God and see you, you would be looking through the eyes of truth. The truth is, God is like a loving Father; you are precious to Him.

Other people may see your outward appearance. God sees your heart. Other people may look at the color of your eyes, or the way your hair kinks or slumps in the rain. Other people may see the way you walk or the clothes you wear. God is not measuring His creation by the latest fashion or whether the world “likes” you (or really likes you). God knows that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) because He made you. Knows who you really are and who you were born to be because He formed you – even from the womb, He knew you and set a purpose for your life (Jeremiah 1:5). God knows you have something great to offer this world, because He placed the seed within you, to bless His creation, by His creation: you.

Let God open the eyes of your heart today, so you can see yourself as He sees you. May the Lord reveal His sight to you as you grow in trusting Him.
