6th Ezekiel Chapter 20 Chapter 21 Into The Wilderness

Memory Verse: “So I made them leave the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness” (Ezekiel 20:10 AMP)

The Children of Israel profaned the name of God in Egypt. Perhaps it was part of their collective post traumatic stress of being under the harsh conditions of their taskmasters in Pharoah’s house. Their rebellion turned to total rebellion against even their God who had spared their lives. Because they worshipped idols and made sacrifices to them, God promised that he would not let them enter his land of plenty, flowing with milk and honey. Rather, he would lead them into the wilderness.

God says that he led the  Children of Israel out Egypt to bring honor to his own name which the Israelites had profaned. God had made a name for himself among the heathen peoples and Pharoah being able to control HIs children made Him look weak.

Finally, God tells the Children of Israel to continue in wickedness, but that soon He would deliver them from their idol worship and bloody sacrifices. Then He would receive them again.

39 “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God, “Go, let everyone serve his idols; but later you shall most certainly listen to Me, and you shall no longer profane My holy name with your gifts and with your idols. 40 For on My holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel (Zion),” says the Lord God, “there the whole house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me. There I will [graciously] accept them, and there I will seek (require) your offerings and the choicest of your gifts, with all your holy and sacred things. 41 I will accept you [graciously] as a pleasant and soothing aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands in which you have been scattered; and I will prove Myself holy and manifest My holiness among you in the sight of the nations. 42 And you will know [without any doubt] that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the land which I swore to give to your fathers. 43 There you will remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all your evil deeds which you have done. 44 And you will know [without any doubt] that I am the Lord when I have dealt with you for My Name’s sake, not in accordance with your evil ways nor with your corrupt conduct, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’” (Ezekiel 20:39-44 AMP)
