The Meditation of Your Heart
. The more you testify (say in your own words what and how much you are thankful to God for), the more your heart looks for reasons to do the same. Thus we see that the key to expanding your praise is more praise. That is the reason why congregations will have worship leaders (sometimes called praise teams) if they truly want people to grow in serving God. Praise opens our hearts and minds to receive what God wants us to have. Much of what we receive from God is a result of how we think about Him. Praise conditions our thoughts to hold Him in a place of reverence; to see Him as a loving Father; to understand His every work as something more than “coincidence” and to view our experience with Him as we go through life as deeply personal – not an arbitrary interaction as though we were just another face in the crowd. God knows each of us personally. You truly ARE a special person of great price to Him. Before you were born, He loved you. And nothing is beyond His sight. It is only the enemy who wants people to feel that they are not cared for – so he spends much of his reign trying to isolate us that we may feel pressed between a rock and a hard place.
You have heard that before you were formed in the belly, God knew you. It’s true. But that is not the whole story. Jeremiah 1:5 says that God not only knew who you were, He also ordained for you a purpose. You may not be a prophet, but your presence is by His design.
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
A Trinity Praise
There are always at least three things you can thank God for:
- You can thank God for what He has already done.
- You can thank God for what He is doing right now.
- You can thank God for what He will do.
