Devotional Reading: Psalm 119

Praise & Worship: With My Whole Heart

Memory Verse: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. Psalm 119:2 | Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. Psalm 119:6 | 33 HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Psalm 119:33-34

Psalm 119 is one of those passages where your Bible looks like a coloring page. Nearly every verse is underlined, highlighted, with some words circled and starred and noted in the margin. There are more than a hundred messages in this single Psalm. What is even more astounding is that a passage of just one verse, has more than one message.

The Message

Read the Word repeatedly. If God does not give you a new revelation sometimes, check your socket. Plug in. Get charged.

You should get more than a (single) word from a lifetime of walking with God. He could give you a word and teach you to apply it many ways. What we are warning here is not to be nonchalant with your God connection.

Echo much? We know that salvation must be preached regularly. You may hear the good news a billion times, but there are plenty other people who have never heard it. So in this way, the good news is never “old news.” We like to think that God can tell us anything. However, the truth in most cases is that we are creatures of habit. And we have our opinions and likes and dislikes. If and when these are challenged, we tend to take it personally.

It’s not a sin to have an opinion or to simply disagree. But God is not pleased with a holier than thou mentality. (And we can not take one message and say, “He (or she) thinks he (or she) is …”) A sermon lived is a totality of messages. Read the whole book. And this is precisely the message – again. You have heard that you can not feed the whole plate to a baby, since he (or) she is not ready for strong meat. At this word you give baby food to every person, no matter their maturity. The same God who is Father of all, ALL AT ONCE, knows the students you have. And He also equips His Shepherds for the whole flock – including sending David if you have a Goliath in the camp; or Joshua to part the seas – again; or some apostles; prophets; teachers… Delegation is not a weakness. Jealousy is.

In order to use the Bible as “proof” – you have to know what it says. And sometimes the message does not mean what we think it does. Before we can interpret purely, we have to get our hurt feelings (since we were offended) out of the way. And sometimes, we just need to pick up a dictionary – because we have been “quoting” scriptures incorrectly – though that was not our intention – simply because we repeated what someone else said without checking it out for ourselves.

And the real problem is not that so many people are off the mark. It is that many of us who “know” the truth, don’t really know where the “mark” is. Thus we “crucify” the blameless and revere what is not worthy. With so many possible points of failing in the world, this is why we must keep our eyes on Christ. The enemy will fool even the elect, if it be possible. You may say, “Ugh, I would never do …” Careful. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak without God. So bulk up. PUMP HOLY IRON FROM THE WORD LIKE YOU ARE HUNGRY AND THIRSTY FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

You may be “unplugged” from His will, if God is repeating himself ALL OF THE TIME, and you are sick and tired of hearing that. Ask yourself if you are truly doing what He said.

If you ask your child to do something and the something does not get done, what do you do next?

Have you heard the one about the pastor who preached the same sermon every week?

People complained of his lack of depth. They said, “Does he only read that one verse?” They where tired of a repeated message. Sister front row said, “When is the Word going to say something I can use?” Brother musician said, “If he preaches that sermon one more time, I sware I am going to quit the music department.” Missionary Hat said, “Hello… Yeah, girl. He’s preaching that AGAIN.” Deacon Shoe said to Brother Watch, “What time is it?” Brother Watch replied, “I left my watch at home.”

A room full of fingers pointed to a Pastor’s failure. But God saw a single Doctor who was working on “broken hands.”
